Pre-Wedding Shoot with Amy & James at Audleys Wood, Basingstoke

Yesterday we met with Amy & James at Audleys Wood in Basingstoke to go through their wedding plans and to finalise a few details ahead of their wedding day.

Luckily, after an extremely wet morning the rain stopped and blue skies appeared just as we all went out for a walk around the grounds so we put the umbrellas back in the car and enjoyed the walk in the sunshine. The gardens are just waking up after the Winter and there are many signs of Spring - snowdrop carpets and blossom beginning to unfold. It's a beautiful venue for a wedding.

Located in Hampshire, Audleys Wood Hotel is surrounded by woodlands and seven acres of well maintained grounds. Built in the 1880’s as a private home for Thomas Pain, today it is a 72 bedroom, 4 star luxury hotel. The new luxury garden pavillion opens next weekend.

Look no further than the delightful Taplins Place in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.

Taplins Place is a 400 year old farmhouse set in the beautiful rolling countryside of Hampshire, just minutes from the historic and picturesque town of Hartley Wintney.

With a picturesque garden straight out of a fairytale, it boasts lush green lawns and beautiful blooming flowers abound, a large koi pond, private woodland area, waterfalls and a beautiful grand old weeping willow.

No matter what month, or indeed Season, you choose to hire the venue; you can be sure that your wedding will enjoy a stunning backdrop - delight in Spring bulbs a plenty, the heady Summer scent of lavender and roses, the Autumnal colours or the hazy Winter sparkle.

Taplins Place is a beautiful informal and relaxed venue for a country wedding. We have had the chance to cover many a wedding here and know it extremely well (Ady and I also chose it for our own wedding celebrations!).

25 'best of' images on disc. These will be of high resolution with joint copyright so you may print, copy, as you wish

A Weekend Away in Devon

We went away for a weekend break down to Exmouth in Devon this weekend for a quick breather before our Wedding Season starts again next month.

Devon is amazing at this time of year - very crisp and fresh in January (but we still managed a sandcastle with 'Lilybean'!) and the sunset over the beach was breathtaking.

Of course, we took our camera so thought I would share a few wintery sunsets here aswell as a candid shot of me and our Lilybean!

Weddings at The Elvetham Hotel - Lilybean's pick of favourites from last Season

Ady and I have been very lucky to cover many weddings at The Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire - it's also only a stone's throw from our house!

The building itself is a 19th Century Grade 2 listed mansion and steeped with history - every room is unique and full of grandeur and elegance and there are many things to see such as intricately carved fireplaces, ornate frescos and paintings not to mention the grand sweeping staircase and stained glass windows painting light into each room.

The gardens are immense and cover 35 acres dating back to 1860 and includes the impressive and now infamous walk of Irish Yew bushes, a magnificent Magnolia tree (the largest in England) and pretty sunken garden which bursts with colour for most of the year and is just waiting to be discovered. If you are a keener gardener like me you will also appreciate the kitchen garden and the walls of scented wisteria which cover parts of the building in Spring / Summer - which creates an amazing backdrop to those all important family group shots.

Ady and I are always excited to cover a wedding at The Elvetham as it's one of our favourite venues. We know the building and grounds extremely well and how to get the very best from them.

Wedding at Winchester Cathedral - Lilybean's pick of favourites from last Season

At the end of last year we were lucky enough to be chosen to cover Libby & Richard's wedding at Winchester Cathedral.

We initially met via Skype (our first Skype meeting - brilliant technology!) as they live in Canada. We got on straight away which is most important when choosing the right photographer for your day. It was an amazing venue to photograph and Libby and Richard wanted to make the most of it so we built in a large window of opportunity to capture as much of the grounds as possible with just the two of them. Ady and I could have easily spent a lot longer though - so much intricate character and architecture! It was a very magical experience.

Unusually, we did the 'couple shoot' before the ceremony (we like to build in 20 minutes or so for this between ceremony and the wedding breakfast where possible) which meant it was very personal and un-rushed, they also had a romantic 'reveal' to each other inside a pretty little walled garden at the far end of the Cathedral grounds.
